Mahaaraasnaadi Kashayam – Classical Ayurvedic Neuromuscular & Vata Decoction | 200ml
Mahaaraasnaadi Kashayam is a classical Ayurvedic herbal decoction (kashayam) referenced in Sahasrayogam, one of the most comprehensive classical Ayurvedic compendiums. The name reflects its primary herb — Rasna (Alpinia galanga) — a foremost Vata-pacifying and anti-inflammatory herb in Ayurveda, used here in double quantity as the lead ingredient in a 25-herb formulation.
This formulation is specifically indicated for severe neuromuscular and neurological Vata disorders including paraplegia, sciatica (Gridhrasi), and convulsive conditions (Apatanakam). The combination of Rasna, Ashwagandha, Guduchi, Bala, Gokshura, Castor root, and Haritaki creates a comprehensive preparation that addresses both the neurological and musculoskeletal dimensions of Vata imbalance. Prepared as a concentrated decoction, it is taken diluted with lukewarm water for optimal absorption.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is Gridhrasi and how does Mahaaraasnaadi Kashayam help?
Gridhrasi is the classical Ayurvedic term for sciatica — a condition characterised by pain radiating from the lower back through the leg along the sciatic nerve. It is classified as a Vata disorder. Rasna, the primary herb in this formulation, is classically described as a foremost vata-shamana (Vata-pacifying) herb, and the formulation as a whole is specifically indicated for neurological Vata conditions including Gridhrasi.
Q2. Why is Rasna used in double quantity compared to other herbs?
Rasna (Alpinia galanga) is the principal herb (pradhana dravya) of this formulation, as indicated by the name “Mahaaraasnaadi” (Maha = great, Rasna = primary herb, Aadi = and others). Its double quantity reflects its central therapeutic role in Vata pacification and neuromuscular support.
Q3. Can this be used for paralysis conditions?
Paraplegia (Pakshavadha) and Apabahukam (upper limb paralysis) are among the classical indications for this formulation. However, paralysis conditions require comprehensive medical management. This formulation should be used as part of a physician-supervised Ayurvedic treatment protocol and not as a standalone remedy.
Q4. Is this suitable during pregnancy?
Pregnant or nursing women should consult a qualified Ayurvedic physician before use. Do not self-administer during pregnancy.
Q5. Do you offer bulk or institutional orders?
Yes, we welcome bulk and wholesale enquiries. Please contact us directly for pricing, certifications, and minimum order quantities.
