Sirasthoda Gulika Lepam – Classical Ayurvedic Forehead Paste

Classical Ayurvedic Lepa (External Paste) Formulation | 50 g | For External Use Only

Sirasthoda Gulika Lepam is a classical Ayurvedic medicated paste (Lepa) traditionally applied on the forehead for Sirasoola (headache) and Siroroga (diseases of the head). This unique formulation combines the resinous anti-inflammatory action of Boswellia serrata (Thurushkam / Shallaki) with classical mineral ingredients — Karigutha, Magnesium Silicate (Kannaram), and Magnetite (Sahasravedi) — and the soothing, cooling properties of Aloe vera extract and fresh Aloe vera juice. A hallmark of this formulation is its dosha-specific adjuvant system: the classical adjuvant (anupana) is selected based on the Ayurvedic type of headache, making this a truly personalised classical application.

Traditional Indication

  • Sirasoola (headache — of Vata, Pitta, or Kapha origin as per classical Ayurveda)
  • Siroroga (diseases of the head as per classical Ayurveda)

Dosage & Mode of Application

Apply over the forehead as a Lepa (paste) with the appropriate adjuvant based on the Ayurvedic type of headache:

  • Vatika Sirasoola (Vata-origin headache) — mix with Tailam (medicated oil)
  • Paithika Sirasoola (Pitta-origin headache) — mix with Ghrutam (ghee / clarified butter)
  • Kaphaja Sirasoola (Kapha-origin headache) — mix with Coconut Milk

Also used for Thalam (classical Ayurvedic head therapy where medicated paste is applied on the crown of the head).

Or as directed by a qualified Ayurvedic physician.

For external application only. Do not ingest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Sirasthoda Gulika Lepam traditionally used for?
It is a classical Ayurvedic forehead paste traditionally indicated for Sirasoola (headache of Vata, Pitta, or Kapha origin) and Siroroga (diseases of the head), applied as a Lepa on the forehead or as Thalam on the crown of the head.

Q2. What is the significance of the dosha-specific adjuvant system?
In classical Ayurveda, the adjuvant (anupana) is selected based on the Dosha causing the condition. Oil (Tailam) pacifies Vata, Ghee (Ghrutam) pacifies Pitta, and Coconut Milk pacifies Kapha. This personalised approach ensures the paste’s action is directed at the root cause of the headache as per the patient’s Ayurvedic diagnosis.

Q3. What is Thalam?
Thalam is a classical Ayurvedic head therapy where a medicated paste is applied on the crown of the head (Brahmarandhra) and left for a prescribed duration. It is traditionally used for conditions of the head, mind, and sensory organs, and is performed under physician supervision.

Yes. This formulation contains classical mineral ingredients — Karigutha, Magnesium Silicate (Kannaram / Talc), and Magnetite (Sahasravedi) — used in accordance with classical Ayurvedic Lepa formulation principles. These are for external use only and must not be ingested.
