Care Guide

Sunlight: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. At least 4โ€“6 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. More sun equals more blooms.

Watering: Very drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately during establishment. Thereafter, water only when the top inch of soil is dry. Avoid waterlogging.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. Adaptable to most soil types. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.

Fertilizing: Apply balanced NPK (10-10-10) monthly. Use a bloom booster (high phosphorus) during active flowering to maximise bloom density.

Pruning: Trim back lightly after each flowering flush to maintain a tidy cascading shape. Remove dead stems at the base periodically.

Pest & Disease Guide

Extremely hardy and virtually pest-free. Occasionally watch for aphids on new growth โ€” treat with neem oil spray. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot in containers.

Landscaping Uses

Russelia Red is exceptional for raised garden beds, retaining walls, slopes, and hanging baskets where its cascading stems can drape gracefully. Also excellent as a border plant or terrace container specimen. Pairs beautifully with Pentas, Cuphea, and Lantana in butterfly gardens.
