Sahacharaadi Kashayam – Classical Ayurvedic Sciatica & Leg Wellness Decoction | 200ml

Sahacharaadi Kashayam is a classical Ayurvedic herbal decoction (kashayam) referenced in Ashtanga Hrudayam, one of the foundational texts of Ayurvedic medicine. Named after its primary herb Sahachara (Strobilanthes ciliatus) — a classical Vata-pacifying herb with specific affinity for the lower limbs and sciatic nerve — this focused 3-herb formulation is one of Ayurveda’s most targeted preparations for Gridhrasi (sciatica) and lower limb Vata disorders.

Unlike multi-herb broad-spectrum Vata formulations, Sahacharaadi Kashayam is a precise, concentrated preparation. Sahachara (the primary herb at 10g per 10ml) is supported by Devadaru (Cedrus deodara) for its anti-inflammatory and Vata-pacifying properties, and Shunti (Zingiber officinale) as a classical deepana (digestive stimulant) and bioavailability enhancer. Together, these three herbs create a synergistic decoction specifically indicated for sciatic pain, leg aches, swelling, and weakness of the lower limbs. Prepared as a concentrated decoction, it is taken diluted with lukewarm water for optimal absorption.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Gridhrasi and how does Sahacharaadi Kashayam help?
Gridhrasi is the classical Ayurvedic term for sciatica — a condition characterised by pain radiating from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg, following the path of the sciatic nerve. It is classified as a Vata disorder. Sahachara (Strobilanthes ciliatus) is classically described as having a specific affinity for lower limb Vata conditions, making it the primary herb in this targeted formulation.

Q2. Why does this formulation have only 3 herbs compared to other Vata kashayams?
Sahacharaadi Kashayam is a targeted, concentrated formulation designed for specific lower limb Vata conditions — particularly sciatica, leg aches, and swelling. The high concentration of Sahachara (10g per 10ml) reflects its dominant therapeutic role. Classical Ayurveda recognises that focused formulations with fewer herbs can be more effective for specific conditions than broad-spectrum multi-herb preparations.

Q3. Can this be used alongside other Vata kashayams?
Combination of Ayurvedic formulations should only be done under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic physician who can assess your constitution, condition, and determine the appropriate treatment protocol. Do not combine formulations without physician guidance.

Q4. Is this suitable during pregnancy?
Pregnant or nursing women should consult a qualified Ayurvedic physician before use. Do not self-administer during pregnancy.

Q5. Do you offer bulk or institutional orders?
Yes, we welcome bulk and wholesale enquiries. Please contact us directly for pricing, certifications, and minimum order quantities.
